The Beauty House Academy, a prestigious training institute with campuses throughout South East Queensland, engaged VA after the business owners noticed enquiries were down.
When VA accessed The Beauty House Academy's Google Analytics account, the figures revealed their website had a high bounce rate.
Your website’s bounce rate is the percentage of visitors who enter your site and then leave ("bounce") from that same entry page rather than continuing on to view other pages within the same site.
At VA, we flag bounce rates above 50 percent as a sign that the webpage does not present the information users are seeking. It may also indicate the site could be taking too long to load or be too hard to navigate.
Bounce rates in the range of 26 to 40 per cent are excellent. The 41 to 55 per cent range is roughly average. A 56 to 70 per cent bounce rate should raise concern and a 70 per cent plus bounce rate is mayday!
The rule of thumb VA works from is that if your site's losing half of its visitors straight up, we begin a systematic audit of your Analytics to get to the bottom of the problem which is exactly what we did for The Beauty House Academy.
Upon further investigation, their Google Analytics also revealed more than 60% of the site's visitors were on their mobile devices. With a target market of digitally native women aged 16 to 30, this company needed a digital reconstruction.
- Fresh new website, particularly optimised for mobile
- Social and digital media training in-house
- Google AdWords banner design and campaign execution
The new website designed and built by VA now has a bounce rate of around 34% overall (as at Oct 2016) and a mobile bounce rate of 32%. The mobile bounce rate for all websites is almost always higher than the overall rate and to see these figures is a great testament to the "mobile first" design philosophy we employed on this project.
